Seasons in the Sun by Kristen Strassel Book Review!

Rating: 5/5 stars

Summer has finally arrived, along with a boy who will forever change the life of fourteen-year-old Callie. After growing up hearing stories about Tristan Trevosier and his famous family, Callie finally meets him when he spends the summer on Martha's Vineyard. Seventeen-year-old Tristan is a hurricane of destruction and rebellion, and he quickly blows a hole right into Callie's sheltered life. Callie sees a side of Tristan that he doesn't show anyone else. She's determined to make everyone see what she sees in him.

Callie defies her parents by leaving the island with Tristan. But when his ugly habits rear their head, Callie realizes maybe she's the one who's wrong about him. He's beyond her help. But it's too late for her to walk away. This summer, she learns that love can be stronger than reason.

Seasons in the Sun is a spectacular prequel novella! To be completely honest, I had no idea that it was leading up to a series or anything. My good friends told Kristen about me, so she sent me an ARC. I immediately fell in love with the story, because it wasn't boring!
I had no idea what the book was about. I just started it and read until I was finished! Kristen did an exceptional job developing her characters! Every individual was clearly portrayed as their own person, and I was very pleased with that! The plot was nice and short (because it's a novella) and I liked it like that. It was like a literary snack, if that even makes sense!
Callie is actually someone I can somewhat relate to! I'm also homeschooled and, at times, I feel bound by parental regulations, so therefore I rebel. Callie wasn't deliberately trying to rebel, she was just trying to get to know this guy because he was nice, handsome, but also mysterious. Since she never got attention from guys, she was really affected by his interest in her. Such a sweet character, overall.
Keisha was such a mess! She was the typical sexy chick who gets what she wants and says what she wants. Not the best example for Callie, and certainly not the best conscience! She's what I would call a valley girl, for sure!
Tristan was someone I couldn't quite figure out for the longest time. He was respectful and kind, which made me glad he was going for Callie, because that's someone she deserved. No spoilers, but this guy never topped giving me surprises!
Overall I really enjoyed this book while waiting in line to see the new Hobbit film! As I said before, it's a really fast read, but you'll just LOVE IT!
Definitely check it out!
Also, don't forget to look for Because the Nightby Kristen Strassel! It follows Seasons in the Sun!
Stay warm and Merry Christmas!

Dream Cast for FIND ME by Romily Bernard!

FIND ME is Romily Bernard's debut novel that just came out this past October. It quickly became my favorite debut novel OF THE YEAR, easily making it into my top ten favorite books EVER! (Look at the review I wrote for it for more details and a synopsis). Because of all this, I have decided to create a dream cast for this extraordinary book! Enjoy!

Grace Morretz is a beautiful yet fierce actress who would definitely be able to play Wick! She is amazing in every role I've seen her in and she does not disappoint! I keep playing scenes over and over again in my head and she's just PERFECT for her!
Choosing an actor for Griff was a little bit more difficult. He had to be handsom, charismatic, but also cunning and brave. Lucas Till seems to play this role in every movie I see him, so it's just meant to be! Obviously he doesn't have dark hair like Griff, but that's what hair dye and makeup is for! ;)
Willow Shields IMMEDIATELY came to mind when I thought of Lily! Didn't even have to think twice! She obviously has talent for playing a strong younger sister (i.e. Primrose Everdeen in The Hunger Games) and her style and personality match Lily's personality in the book.
Hugh Jackman is the kind of actor that could play ANYBODY, really. I would love to see him as Carson! NUFF SAID.
For someone to be Todd, they'd have to be handsom, kind, understanding, charismatic, and just Todd-like. Bradley Cooper would totally nail this role! Mostly because he's a lot like him in real life. He's the kind of guy that makes you just want to give him a hug he's so awesome (don't judge). So this is Todd!
For some odd reason, since the beginning of FIND ME when Bren was mentioned, I've always mentally pictured her with a British accent. So Emily Blunt's been bouncing around in my head ever since! She would be a great Bren! She could be this moody foster parent married to the sweetest guy ever. Totally.
ROBERT DOWNEY JR. SHOULD BE WICK'S DAD. THAT IS ALL.

Woody Harrelson is one of the greatest actors EVER in my opinion. It wouldn't even be hard for him to be Joe. He has already been in many other movies in which he has had to be characters similar to Joe. Therefore, Woody is Joe, Joe is Woody. POOF! One in the same!
And last but certainly not least is Tally! She also took a while to think about. But when Elle Fanning popped into my head, IT ALL MADE SENSE! Elle Fanning never ceased to amaze me with her INCREDIBLE acting skills! If you just compare her strong, superior role in Super 8 and her gentle, innocent role in We Bought a Zoo, you're mind will be blown. Like, BLOWN. Aside from her amazing acting, she fits right in my head, so it is right!

That concludes my dream cast for FIND ME! Hope you've enjoyed reading about my dreams and opinions once again!
Don't forget to look for FIND ME wherever books are sold! It is BEYOND WORDS AWESOME!
Also, you can follow the author on Twitter @RomilyBernard!

That's all for now!
Merry Christmas book rebels!

Waiting On Wednesday!

This week, my waiting on Wednesday pick is the third and final book to a trilogy I have been with since the beginning!

RUINS by Dan Wells!

"Kira, Samm, and Marcus fight to prevent a final war between Partials and humans in the gripping final installment of the blockbuster Partials Sequence.

Our time is almost up.

As the clock ticks closer and closer to the final Partial expiration date, humans and Partials stand on the brink of war. Caught in the middle, thousands of miles apart, are Samm and Kira: Samm, who is trapped on the far side of the continent beyond the vast toxic wasteland of the American Midwest; and Kira, now in the hands of Dr. Morgan, who is hell-bent on saving what's left of the Partials, even if she has to destroy Kira to do it.

The only hope lies in the hands of the scattered people of both races who seek a way to prevent the rapidly escalating conflict. But in their midst appears a mysterious figure, neither human nor Partial, with solemn warnings of the new apocalypse-one that none of them may be able to avert.

The last book in the Partials Sequence is a thrill ride of epic proportions, as the last remnants of life on our planet fight to determine its final fate."

The PARTIALS series is an EPIC dystopian series, but it's completely unique and original! It has tons of action and thrills and romance and plot and everything a great book should have!
It feels like I have been waiting a life time for this third book and I STILL have to wait until NEXT YEAR! Until then, I shall be writing a novel of my own.
Maybe I'll grab an ARC!
Check out PARTIALS by Dan Wells, the first book in this fantastic series!
Have a great Wednesday!

Book Peeves! Little things about books that annoy me.

We all have pet peeves! Some of them are about how their good is served, if the light stays on or off, or even how the toilet paper should hang (which is over, not under). There are also little things that really peeve me when it comes to books, and I'm sure some of you will agree with me, so here is a list of book peeves.

1. Sequel covers that don't match the first book.

Don't you just hate it when you buy the first book to a series when it comes out, but when the second book is released, so are a new set of covers? I understand that, most of the time, the covers improve, but it is still annoying nonetheless because when you take Instagram photos of your books, they don't match! I swear, you should be able to send in the older version of the book to the publisher and receive the updated cover in return.
Example:
I love James Patterson to death, don't get me wrong! His books are amazing and I stand in awe of his pure genius and his ability to write so many books and one time while keeping his sanity! But he is NOTORIOUS for changing his covers all the time. There must be thousands of different versions of his Maximum Ride series (which I love)!
In some cases I am glad that they changed the cover (i.e. Delirium, Legend, Lightning Thief...) because the rest of the series then stuck with that special format, but in most cases, STOP CHANGING THE COVERS!

2. Undressed books with nothing to show.

When I purchase or receive a hardcover book, the very first thing I do is undress it! (Remove the sleeve) Most of the time I will find soem clever little impression of something on the book itself, which pleases me very much!
Example:
The Insignia trilogy, the Divergent trilogy, and the Lorien Legacies series all have little surprises behind their sleeves! WELL DONE!
But then you have the books that have absolutely NOTHING behind the sleeve but a smooth front. I still like the books, but this annoys me, I must admit.
Example:

See, you have no idea what these books could be by just looking on the front. They are all plain, and this disappoints me.

3. Paperback books that should be hardback.

I love long books! I like the detail and the long story that just consumes me for days. What I don't like is when someone publishes a long book in paperback, and since I am desperate, I buy it immediately and regret it when the hardback is released.
Example:
These books are so thick and have such thin covers, that I'm gonna have to buy hardcovers in a little while, because they are going to fall apart! Again, I LOVE these books, but they each have something that peeves me.

4. The first chapters of the next book at the end.

I have no example pictures for these because I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. It may not bother anyone else, but it drives me nuts when they have the first chapters of the next book in  the series you're reading at the end of the first book. AGGHHHH!
This is not a flaw, this is a torture device and works of pure evil!
WHY MUST YOU TORTURE ME SO?

5. Crammed pages with small font.

When a book has pages that have a minuscule font and words filling up all the margins, it simply turns me off immediately. Thankfully, I have only encountered this annoyance with school books on the reading list.
It's okay to make it longer! You don't have to fill every little space with words. Readers need room for our eyes to wander, room to breathe! (Sounds weird, but it's true!)

There are MANY other peeves you can come up with, but these are the top 5 things about books that peeve me. Authors, take notes! But remember, just because your book may fall into one of these categories, it has nothing to do with your brilliant story between the pages. Just keep these things in mind when you're designing your books! ;)

And now I shall present the winner of the Perfect Book contest.
Drumroll please!

FIND ME by Romily Bernard!
This book has everything a reader wants, and nothing that one doesn't want!
It has a breath-taking cover, it has a surprise behind the sleeve, it doesn't have a snippet of the sequel in the back, and it doesn't have crammed pages!
BEHOLD, THE PERFECT YA BOOK!

Lunar Insignia Contest Entry!

There was a contest Marissa Meyer was hosting. The winner would receive an ARC of CRESS! When I heard about it, early in October, I immediately got to work, thinking of the perfect ideas that would best represent the Lunars.
The finalists were chosen by Marissa this afternoon. I didn't make it, but I'm proud of what I made, so I'm going to share it with all of you!
Even though I wasn't chosen, there are still a few other ways to receive an ARC for CRESS! You could enter the #NaNoWriMo competition! It's great fun! But it's takes dedication to write so much! This is my first year participating, so I'm going to try my best not to quit! I'M A FIGHTER! I'm grateful for Marissa Meyer for inspiring me to try out #NaNoWriMo!
